Do I need to arrange an electricity supplier after installation?
A new electricity meter cannot be installed without a registered supplier being previously agreed upon. Crown Utilities can find the best supplier for you at the time, so you won’t have to worry about having to find one yourself if you don’t have one in mind already.
Moving an existing electricity meter
When it comes to relocating an electricity meter, we take care of everything from the outset. If requested, we can relocate the meter to the outside of the building, but this can be discussed at the planning stage.

Can a gas meter be installed outside?
Yes, a new gas meter can be installed in an external location. The meter will need to be housed in a meter box, that’s secured to a permanent fixed structure so that no one can tamper with it.
Removing an existing meter
Your electric meter may not be in the ideal place, or you may simply not need it anymore. You cannot legally remove an existing meter yourself, so it’s important that you choose a specialist company to complete the work.

Does my electricity need to be disconnected as well as the meter?
You still have the infrastructure for an electricity connection within 6 months of having your meter removed. Within the timeframe, you can have the current meter or a new meter installed and still be connected to the mains electricity.
After the 6-month time limit has elapsed you may find that the electricity has been disconnected from the source without you being notified. If this is the case you will need to apply for a new electricity connection.
Installing an electric sub meter
No business centre manager or landlord can efficiently calculate electric consumption without a sub-meter. By providing a sub-meter for each individual living area or office space, tenants are accurately charged for their electricity consumption.
